Why your star rating moves the needle

โญ 4.0 vs 4.5 is huge

Most people filter out anything under 4 stars. Crossing 4.0 โ€” and then 4.5 โ€” visibly changes how many searchers click and call.

๐Ÿงฎ One 1-star hurts more than you think

Early on, a single 1-star can drag your average down for months. The math below shows exactly how many 5-stars it takes to recover.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Recency counts too

Google weighs review volume and recency in local ranking. A steady stream of fresh 5-stars beats a big pile of old ones.

Frequently asked questions

How is this calculated?

Your current total stars = average ร— number of reviews. To hit a target average T by adding N new 5-star reviews, we solve (current total + 5N) รท (current count + N) โ‰ฅ T. The calculator rounds up to the next whole review.

What if my target is 5.0?

A perfect 5.0 is only possible if you currently have no reviews below 5 โ€” even one lower rating makes an exact 5.0 mathematically unreachable. Aim for 4.7โ€“4.9, which reads as excellent to customers.

Is this free?

Yes โ€” completely free, no signup, and it runs entirely in your browser.
